Nickie Harte Kelly Esthesis: The Awakening: From France and obtaining much notice as Best Unsigned Band of 2020 in Prog Magazine, this band certainly delivers the progressive goods. The band of four is capably led by multi-instrumentalist, Aurélien Goude This is a concept piece, mostly set in a dark, contemplative mood and is both atmospheric and heavy at times. Favorite track: No Soul To Sell.

Ceff I loved this album since the first time I've heard it. Emotive, dramatic, sad, fulfill feelings, pink Floyd influences are clear although the melancholic and time to time, scarred elements created an obscure atmosphere and an own identity. A masterpiece. Favorite track: Downstream.

Downstream 16:31
Walking by the long stream Gazing at the last gleam
A distant shadow, in a meadow, all alone Shiver runs down his spine
When he strolls through the pines Gentle whisper, frosty winter, every night Following the old path
Wandering on the snowy grass
Peace everywhere, ounce of despair, under stars In this breeze of regret A distant smell of secrets Thirst for conquest Guns and market Heartbreaks, dawn breaks Tell me the whole story,
Take your time before the snow flurry A soft and sweet lullaby
Just a long and sad goodbye Please let me take your hand, Wake up slowly and show me your land Far beyond the stone bridge, Don’t you see the cloudy ridge ? On the road to somewhere We can hear the wind of time On the road to somewhere We have the time Can we, could we, will we make it better ? Can we, could we, will we make it safer ? Can we, could we, will we make it nicer ? Can we, could we, will we make it happier ?

So you think you’ve conditioned me So you think we all agree To conform to your mind Consent to being blind Let me stay in my shell I’ve got no soul to sell So you think we’ll make a deal I guess, under seal I’ve got a new meeting Let’s talk about nothing Who am I in this play ? I have to get away
3.
High Tide 10:35
Midnight, by the seaside Cross-legged on the sand She’s here, waiting for me Moonlight, a seagull glides Naked, a shell in the hand She feels me, and tries to talk to me High tide... High tide... Night sky, a shooting star Rocked by the ebb and flow She knows me, and laughs out loud at me A wrecked boat on the sandbar Sliding like a shadow She calls me, and starts to swim with me High tide... High tide... Breaking waves on an ocean of ways The haunting sound of the tide Stormy days, struck matches in those gloomy caves Oh, bring me some light inside
4.
Chameleon 08:06
Who you want me to be, buddy Your fellow traveler, or maybe some reveller Who you want me to be, mummy A lawyer or a publisher Who should I be now ? Who’s the real me now ? Who you want me to be, honey A very shy lover, wait, or maybe a sinner Who do you want me to bully The trainee or my co-worker Who should I be now ? Who’s the real me now ? I’m a chameleon Trying to make a perfect impression Messy in my brain My life is just a role-playing game Fake as my friends I like their feed ‘cause I need to pretend And as time goes by I still feel like I am a passer-by Who should I be now ? Who’s the real me now ?

Misty-eyed, just feeling inside I’m collapsing into the night I can’t hide, I can’t let things slide But everytime my throat gets tight Memories are engraved on my mind Why our story should be erased ? Don’t be blind, no need to rewind But I’ve lost myself in your shade Sitting by the winding road to go down I know there’s time for me to grow Seeking what I need to follow on my own I know there is still far to go I wish you won’t shift the blame I think I need to slip away Fading out in this confusing game It’s getting hard for me to play Sitting by the winding road to go down I know there’s time for me to grow Seeking what I need to follow on my own I know there is still far to go

PROG - BEST UNSIGNED BAND 2020
Prog Magazine Reader's Poll, Prog 116

"The Awakening is an assured album, as sharp as a handshake with Edward Scissorhands, flitting between the lucid dreaming of Pink Floyd and the angular attack of Porcupine Tree. Esthesis’ heartbeat is more attuned to aura and feeling, the composition coloured by long brushstrokes. (…) A stellar springboard towards a bright future."

MUSIC WAVES (France)
"Un premier album de haut vol"

PROG WERELD (The Netherlands)
"Het predicaat ‘beste debuutalbum van 2020’ is niet overdreven. Alles is perfect gedoseerd en in balans, zonder dat het gekunsteld overkomt. De muziek is mooi organisch en doet veelal filmisch aan"

ECLIPSED ROCK MAGAZIN (Germany)
"ein erstaunliches Debütalbum"

MLWZ (Poland)
"Kompozycja utrzymana we floydowskim klimacie wybrzmiewa przez większość czasu niespiesznie, pozwalając unieść się w letargu i poddać się płynącym dźwiękom"

NACION PROGRESIVA (South America)
"Unos de los álbumes de rock progresivo revelación y sorprendentes del 2020 que debes escuchar de forma inmediata. Este no sólo es un recorrido hacia la conciencia y hacia la sensibilidad, es un destino al autoconocimiento a travers de la Música"
